Great Day Again!

Sundays Ashby Santa Fun Run & Walk was a huge success and we thank all Santas, volunteers, sponsors and spectators for helping to make the 2019 event another huge success. We had 1435 entries this year which is another phenomenal show of support.

​

We're busy totalling up all monies and finalising our accounts ready for an announcement in the middle of January where we will be presenting our charities with their cheques. We're hoping to have all sponsorship monies closed out by the end of the year so if we could ask the many who have collected sponsorship to get it to us as soon as possible we would really appreciate it to enable us to get it out to the charities. Online Entry for 2019 Now Closed

Online entry for the 2019 event is now closed. We will be selling the remaining spaces in Market Street on Saturday (30th November) at our Rotary Club stall on a first come first served basis. Many thanks to all who've entered.

We kick off on Sunday at 1045 with the fun warm up and the main event starts from the Bath Grounds at 1100. We recommend arriving around 1030 to enjoy the atmosphere with the various entertainment going on.

Welcome to the website of the Ashby Santa Fun Run and Walk which will be held on Sunday 1st December 2019 starting at 11am. We had another record breaking event in 2018 as the Ashby Santa Fun Run & Walk continues to go from strength to strength thanks to the fantastic support that we receive. We had just a handful shy of 1500 Santa's entering in 2018 and we are going all out to hit that maximum 1500 taret this year!

Organised by the Rotary Club of Ashby de la Zouch Castle and supported by Ashby Town Council, our aim is to provide a safe, family friendly, fun Christmas event with the intention of raising money for some of our locally based supported charities.

​

Thanks to the fantastic support we received at last years event which saw us raise over £12000, we have decided to once again select 3 charities this year to be beneficiaries of the profit that the event makes. We will continue to support Staunton Harold Sailability Trust, a great local charity who we have worked with on the last two Santa Fun Run's and who do great work with disabled people. We were delighted to see them use the funding from the 2017 event to purchase an additional boat which they named 'Rudolph' in recognition of the Santa Fun Run & Walk. They provide sailing and waterborne activities for disabled people throughout the county with children catered for in the main with a mixture of mental and physical disabilities.

 

We will also be supporting two new local charities who we haven't supported previously, Phoenix Children's Foundation and Enrych East Midlands.

​

Phoenix Children's Foundation operate in Packington and who's aim is to enrich and enhance the lives of youngsters and their families living with illness, disability or lack of opportunity. Phoenix own a small number of animals ranging from alpacas to goats, to Shetland ponies and even reindeer, all of whom help to fundraise and also provide young people with the opportunity to grow emotionally and learn through Animal Assisted Activity.

Enrych East Midlands are based out of the Marlene Reid Centre in Coalville and is a charity who help to support disabled and elderly people to enjoy active and independant lives. Enrych helps people in need to identify what would make a real difference to their lives, especially though leisure or learning activities and then finds ways to make that happen. This might be through a volunteer partnership, an activity group, Enrych social events or through one to one support.

We really hope that you agree with the charities that we have chosen and we look forward to doing our level best to raise as much money as possible for these wonderful local causes.

​

We will again actively promote personal sponsorship this year. This alone enabled us to raise a further £750 in gift aid alone last year which was then past on to our 2018 charities once collected. We will also give people the opportunity to decide which of the charities that their sponsorship goes to so if you want to run the event specifically for one of our chosen charities you will have the opporunity to do so.

So, what is a Santa Fun Run & Walk? We provide all participants with a Santa suit, beard & hat to dress up in and complete a 3km run or walk around Ashby de la Zouch to a pre defined route. Sound like fun? Why not grab your workmates/friends/families and come and join us for this years event. The route is flat and family friendly so is suitable for pushchairs and buggies however there are some bumpy bits and a short stretch of playing field to cross.
