About Loros

  • LOROS is a charity providing compassionate care and support for terminally ill people and their families across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

  • Our services include a 31-bed inpatient ward, and outreach support in patients’ homes as well as a wide range of services for patients and their families, from counselling to complementary therapy.

  • The LOROS Centre for Excellence is educating current and future generations of health care professionals and developing new research to improve policy and practice, locally, nationally and internationally.

  • Our team of nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals, work tirelessly, brining skill, experience and dedication to every patient we care for.

  • Our care is as special and unique as each individual, with the aim of helping patients live the very fullest life they can, right up until their last day.

  • Our support is free but it costs £8.5m to deliver our services each year.

About Rainbows

  • Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People is the only children’s hospice in the East Midlands. Our Five-Year Plan is all about providing expert care and extending our reach to support children and families, whether at our hospice, in local hospitals, or in the comfort of their own home.

  • Our mission is to care for babies, children and young people with life threatening illness and support their families within the East Midlands. We offer a range of services, including end-of-life care, palliative care, symptom management, holistic therapies, family breaks, respite care, and bereavement support.

  • We plan to continue offering comprehensive care at our Loughborough hospice and expand our services throughout Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, and Northamptonshire. We now have Rainbows nurses in hospitals and our care teams work alongside local community nursing services to offer families the choice of end-of-life care at home.

  • We are also opening local community hubs, to ensure that every child can access our care, regardless of their location.

  • As a charity our services cost over £12 million every year, we rely on donations from individuals, businesses, and communities to continue our work.
