About the Ashby Santa Family Fun Workout

The Ashby Santa Fun Run and Walk was a brand new event for 2015 organised by the Rotary Club of Ashby de la Zouch Castle. Following a hugely successful first 5 years, we have raised over £53000 for charity, typically focused on local charities to our area.

​

Due to the covid-19 pandemic the 2020 event was looking like being another victim of this dreadful disease but in the interest of giving people a little bit of Christmas cheer and to maintain an event that means so much to so many people in our area at this really difficult time, we have decided to produce an event this year that whilst not being as grand as our traditional event, allows people to come together and bring a little Christmas normality back to their lives.

 

The 2020 event will take the form of a Joe Wicks style fun workout where a selection of our mixed age Santa's will record a professional, fun, family Christmas themed workout aimed at all ages. This will be released on YouTube at 1100 on Sunday 20th December where we hope hundreds of Santa's will tune in and take part in the fun exercise video, ideally dressed in their festive gear and allow us to produce a mass participation event done from the safety of your own home. Even better we would love people to record or take photo's of you taking part in the event and send them in to us/share them on our Facebook page so that we can create a collage of people coming together in the face of this terrible virus and not allowing it to spoil something that is normally the start of their Christmas period.

 

We will be publicising the YouTube link to the video in advance of the day via our website, social media and other direct email communications so you'll be well prepared to join us as the video goes live. The video will remain on the link so if you aren't able to join us at 1100 on the 20th you will still be able to take part at a time to suit you!

 

Entry in advance isn't compulsory as the video will be available to all. We are however going to attempt to raise some money for charity both through businesses sponsoring us (which many have generously already) and also through asking for donations off people who want to contribute towards this years chosen charity, Ashby Foodbank. We are finalising details for this as we speak but we will be accepting donations through JustGiving and also via BACS bank transfer. If you feel you are in a position to contribute towards the event we would be hugely grateful but ultimately this year with the difficulties people are suffering it is about bringing our wonderful community together and raising some Christmas spirit in these tough times.

We would also love people to take part in the fun Christmas workout dressed in Christmas gear to really raise some cheer and we'd love to see everybodies photos and videos. We are also selling our usual Santa Suits this year to enable people to take part in the traditional gear and people can order Santa suits by emailing admin@ashbysantarun.com. All we are asking is for a minimum donation of £5 per suit. We will arrange (lockdown permitting) a covid secure suit collection day in town or if not we will deliver to peoples homes. We do have a limited supply of Santa suits so we would recommend ordering early if you want to guarantee a suit.

The Rotary Club of Ashby de la Zouch Castle is one of 3 Rotary Clubs in Ashby de la Zouch. We are a breakfast club who meet on Tuesdays at The Beeches Pub in the town. We support and operate a variety of events throughout the year with the aim of raising money for Rotary Foundation (the Rotary Charity) and other local and international charities or to just provide marshalls and support for other community events throughout our local area. We support a number of other local organisations in events including the 2 other Rotary Clubs in the town (The Rotary Clubs of Ashby de la Zouch and Ashby de la Zouch Hastings), Lions and Round Table.
