About the Ashby Santa Fun Run & Walk

The Ashby Santa Fun Run and Walk was a brand new event for 2015 organised by the Rotary Club of Ashby de la Zouch Castle. Following a hugely successful first 3 years, we are delighted to be bringing it back for a fourth year in 2018. It's fair to say that 2017 surpassed all of the organisers expectations, attracting just over 1400 Santa's to enter and raising over £11600 for charity, which was split between our main chosen charities, Hospice Hope, Staunton Harold Sailability Trust, Rainbows Hospice and Wishes 4 Kids.

The 2019 event will take place on Sunday 1st December 2019. Once again, our aim is to provide a fun, family friendly Christmas event to raise money for nominated local charities. We have decided to support 3 main charities this year as we have expanded the event to a level where we are able to do this thanks to the fantastic support of the people of Ashby and surrounding areas. Our 3 chosen charities are again all local and we can confirm for the 2019 event we will support Staunton Harold Sailability Trust, Phoenix Children's Foundation and Enrych East Midlands. We look forward to working with them all to make this years event a fantastic spectacle and to raise some much needed funds for all! The main point to stress is that this event is a fun run AND walk and is therefore suitable for all ages and levels of ability. We are hoping to create a fun community event for all of the family and not a race so race numbers will not be issued or times recorded.

The event will involve all entrants dressing up in a Santa suit, beard and hat provided by us and then running or walking around the pre-defined course. Please note that we can only provide Santa suits in the size age range of 6/8 years, 9/12 years or adult so it will be necessary to order the most appropriate size per entrant. The course will be over a distance of 3km and will be around the town of Ashby de la Zouch, starting on the Bath Grounds at 11:00 am. The route followed will be relatively flat and suitable for children and pushchairs/buggies although please bear in mind that it may be a little bumpy in places. A map of the route is available on this website. We will also be providing a fun warm up before the fun run starts! Entrants should arrive on the Bath Grounds by 10:45 for the fun warm up before the event officially starts at 11:00.

Entry in advance of the day is recommended to guarantee a place as we only have limited numbers of Santa suits in each size and we are looking to put a total limit on entrants this year of 1500 to avoid bottlenecks and overcrowding so once all places are sold then we will close entries even if it's before the official closing date. The easiest way to enter is by completing the form on this website and paying through PayPal via a debit or credit card of your choice. Once this simple form is completed and submitted along with payment, you will be sent an email confirmation of your entry to the event followed later by details such as where to pick your Santa suit up from, arrival time and instructions for the day. A paper entry form is also available on the website with payment able to be submitted by cheque, however an email address is required to enable us to contact you with joining instructions and confirmation of entry. Entry will open on September 1st.

Entry to this event is being held for the 5th year at just £10 for adults (16 and over) and just £5 for under 16's. The entry fee includes your Santa suit, beard, hat and a medal upon completion of the fun run and walk. Profits from this event will be split with the majority going to our 3 main supported charities with the remainder going towards other charities supported by Rotary throughout the year.
